Privacy & cookie notice

Last updated: April 20, 2026

This notice describes how 404Buddy ("we", "us") handles information when you use this website. It is provided for transparency and to support requirements such as the EU/UK GDPR and ePrivacy rules. It is not personalized legal advice; consult a qualified professional for your situation.

Who is responsible?

The site operator identified on the site (and in Google Search / business listings, if applicable) is the data controller for processing described here, unless we state otherwise.

What we collect and why

  • Content you submit — For example, error text you paste into tools or forms. We use this to provide features (e.g. explanations, lookups) and to improve the service where allowed.
  • Technical & usage data — Such as pages viewed, approximate timestamps, and browser type. If you accept all cookies, we may record page views via our first-party analytics endpoint to understand how the site is used.
  • Feedback — If you send feedback, we store what you submit and related metadata as needed to respond or improve the product.
  • Contact form — If you use /contact, we store your message in our database. If email delivery is enabled, we send a copy through our email provider (e.g. Resend) to the address we operate.

Cookies & similar technologies

We use cookies or local storage where necessary for the site to function (for example, remembering your cookie choice). If you choose Accept all, we may also use storage for analytics and advertising as described below.

You can change your mind anytime by clearing site data for this domain in your browser; the cookie banner will appear again on your next visit unless we offer an in-product preference center later.

First-party analytics

When you accept all, we may send basic page-view events to our own server (first-party request), including path, referrer, and user-agent string. We use this in aggregate to understand traffic and improve content. If you choose Essential only, we do not use this analytics collection.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

When you accept all, we may load Google AdSense scripts and show ads in designated areas. Google may use cookies and similar technologies to personalize ads and measure performance, subject to Google's policies. See Google's Advertising & Privacy documentation.

If you choose Essential only, we do not load AdSense on your device for that choice (subject to how your browser applies it).

Retention

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above, unless a longer period is required by law. Server logs and analytics may be retained in shortened or aggregated form.

Your rights (EEA/UK and similar)

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to certain processing or port your data. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Contact us using a method we publish on the site (e.g. feedback or admin contact) to exercise rights.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 16 (or the age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this notice from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after changes means you acknowledge the updated notice.
